It wouldn’t take more than a few minutes standing up at Menai Marketplace on a Sunday afternoon to realise that the number of stressed, anxious, or hurting people in our community is huge. We live in the midst of a community that is for the most part indifferent to Christ and His message, a community that is broken, a community that is dead to God, spiritually speaking.
As the church, God has not called us to be separate, or apart, or absent from our community, rather He has called us to be “in the world but not of it”.. To be in the world, but not be the same substance as it. It is in that position, in the midst of brokenness, that God works through us, out of a place of overflow, bringing light where there is darkness, bringing healing where there is brokenness, bringing sight where there is blindness and hearing where there is deafness.
